As a valued volunteer helping bring life to our thrift store, you play a huge role in shaping what our shoppers find and love on the floor. Lately, there’s been a major shift in what people
are searching for, and we want to make sure you’re in the know: Y2K (early 2000s) and 1990s fashion is in high demand and it belongs on our racks.
Millennials and Gen Z shoppers now spend 50% of their clothing budget in thrift and
resale shops. They’re not just here for vintage from the '60s or '70s, they’re actively hunting for styles from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Think low-rise jeans, cargo pants, baby tees, velour tracksuits, rhinestone logos and denim.
These items may not look vintage in the traditional sense, but to our younger shoppers, they absolutely are.
Today’s thrift customers don’t expect every item to be perfect. Unless the damage is
significant, we encourage you to give items a chance especially if they fit the popular Y2K/‘90s vibe. You may want to consider noting vintage on the tag. Additionally, these items can be up priced from our base price.
By being aware
of what’s trending, you help us stay relevant, increase sales, and bring joy to shoppers searching for something special.
Thanks for helping us keep our racks fresh, fun, and
fashion-forward!
