Portage Volunteers,
We are all saddened by the resignation of Ken Williams as the Store Manager. He has definitely made a
positive impact in the short time he was here and will be missed. We wish him all the best in his retirement!
The LLT (Local Leadership Team) has met to come up with a plan for the interim time between Ken's last day, July 5, and the hiring and start of a new manager. We are looking at this period as a time of survival and will be
focusing on the essentials. We will be focusing on mostly estate pickups and not picking up smaller donations of furniture. We do not plan to start new volunteers in this interim period.
There will be a schedule for each day that will include someone responsible for opening and closing the store on that particular
day as well as the cashier and triage team. We are grateful to many that have agreed to step up in this way and are looking for a few more that might be willing. If you are willing and able please let Tim Sumner know as he will be creating the schedule.
We realize that things will be far from perfect but are aiming for a
"good enough" approach. Mistakes will be made and a few things might fall through the cracks but we are confident that all the volunteers can pull together to make it work for a short time. We will need to keep a positive attitude and have lots of grace with one another.
We have already started advertising for the position and have
