Orange City Volunteers,
I would like to pass along a very urgent prayer request from our Ministry Partner in Haiti.
Haiti (Security threat level - 5): Violent anti-government protests took place in the capital Port-au-Prince and other cities across Haiti throughout the day
on 6 February 2024, over demands for Prime Minister Ariel Henry to step down from office. In the city of Ouanaminthe, located along Haiti’s border with the Dominican Republic, armed individuals wearing hoods attacked a police station and set fire to the town hall, resulting in one death and four injuries. Local media reported that the assailants also set ablaze parked vehicles within the vicinity, and heavy gunfire was underway in the city. In the commune of Petion-Ville, located approximately
10 km southeast of the capital city, at least one man was injured during clashes with police officers. In anticipation of further unrest, the French Embassy in Port-au-Prince suspended operations, while the Dominican Republic deployed additional military personnel to the border town of Dajabon. Travelers in Haiti are urged to closely monitor forthcoming developments and avoid all public gatherings.

Thank you for your prayers,
Jessica
